i keep gettings this error when i try to start up silencer... this is only when i try 2 do it from the actual C:/programfiles/mindcontrol/silencer .........
"error in AIL_waveoutopen" wtf i just wanna play!!! |

I also got that error on a computer without a sound card. If you have a sound card make sure the drivers are somewhat current, and your directX version is somewhat current. You can also try setting the compatibilty modes in vista/xp, right click on the shortcut/exe and use the compatibility tab to set an earlier version of windows. Also, if you're using the shortcut, make sure you change the working directory property to the folder where silencer.exe is located, and not any subfolders thereof. If you only get the error when you run it from the actual silencer folder, what happens when you use the shortcut? And which silencer installer did you use? And which silencer installer did you use? ive tried both versons...the one w/ the patch and the one thats ready 2 go right when u dl it.... when i do the shortcut i get the "global" error or w/e it is... and i think i am running xp |

Update: A different version of the installer is available here:

Hi shadow!
A lot of the FAQ was written as some of the components were being developed, but if you download the current installer from here: http://rgb9000.net/silencer/ and run it, you should be up and running silencer in no time. Log into the lobby with credentials that you will remember, and see if anyone is is online. You might keep an eye on the forum, as some players will post dates that a lot of people are going to be on. Getting silencer going today isn't nearly as hard as it used to be
